Hello

This page provides you with information about your stay at The Crown, including facilities and timings, what the process is for check in and check out and other useful information about the pub and the area.

Getting Here

Car: Most of our guests travel by car.

DON'T FOLLOW YOUR SAT NAV IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GO DOWN SKINNY LANES!  You need to get onto the A390 between Lostwithiel and St Austell and then turn off towards Lanlivery.  Once you turn off the A390 towards Lanlivery the lane is a single width lane so you may need to wait in a passing place in order to pass other cars.  Sometimes you may need to reverse - its all part of travelling around in Cornwall!  Once you arrive, there is an ample car park with plenty of spaces so that you can park close to your room/s.

Train: If you do plan to travel by train then the nearest station with regular stops is Bodmin Parkway which is about 15 minutes away.  You will need to pre-book a taxi (see our contacts page for some numbers).

Plane: It is possible to travel to Cornwall by plane (Newquay Airport) from some major cities but the above points regarding taxis will apply and you will need to pre-book one.

Please note that Lanlivery is a small and relatively remote village with no public transport services.

Electric Vehicles: plans are under way to install charging points but we aren't quite there yet!

Check In

Check in is between 3pm and 9pm. (early check in available £20)

You will need to go to the bar in the pub and let the staff know your name and that you have arrived to check into your room.

Before you arrive your card will have been charged the value of your stay and so at check-in you will be given a copy of your invoice.  If for any reason we were unable to take payment upfront, the front of house staff will explain this to you and ask for payment at check in.

You will be given a registration form to complete which is part of UK regulations. Only one person needs to complete this but we should have information about all adults staying.  NOTE:  you will need to know your car registration.

If you haven't booked a table for dinner and wish to dine in the pub then please tell the staff so that they can reserve you a table.

A member of staff will then show you to your room, explain the fire evacuation procedures and timings for breakfast (see below) before leaving you with the key.

Information about your stay

In your room you will find Complimentary Tea and Coffee, some home made biscuits and a sherry decanter with glasses!
We have done away with UHT milk and deliver a small bottle of fresh milk outside your door (normally at about 7am!).  If you don’t require it, please use the label outside your door to say 'no milk thankyou' so that we can keep waste to a minimum and of course if you need a bit more just pop up to the bar.
Pub Opening Hours
The pub is open from midday until 11pm (10pm on Sunday).
Restaurant Serving Hours
Food is served between 12 and 2.30pm and between 5 and 9pm although during the summer the hours extend to 12 – 9pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays – please ask at the bar.  You can book a table by asking any one of the team.
Pets
If you are in a pet friendly room, please respect other guests by not allowing your pet onto the beds and please clean up after them. Please, if possible, walk them up the lane for their morning ablutions to keep the gardens and grounds pleasant for other guests and the children that play in them.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served in the pub between 8 and 10am.  All residential guests staying at The Crown Inn on bed and breakfast tariff have a generous continental breakfast included along with all hot and cold drinks in the price of their stay.  This will include, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, pastries, cold meats, cheese, hard-boiled egg, toast and preserves along with teas, coffees and fruit juices.  Additional cooked breakfast options can be ordered from the kitchen with a nominal charge (which is discounted to our normal cooked breakfast rates).

Garden
There is a small Resident Only garden area towards the bottom of the garden which is cordoned off.  If the weather is pleasant then there are a few deck chairs and an outside sofa and bistro tables for your use.  So, if you prefer to read a book in the sun or take your drinks there, please do make use of this space.
Books
There are a small number of books in each room which you are welcome to pick up and read.  If you get stuck into one and don’t have time to complete it, by all means please take this home with you and post it  back to us when you are done!   If you can let us know so we have a record of  this please complete the slip inside and leave on the bed.

Environmental Considerations

As well as sourcing local suppliers and reducing our single use plastics where possible, we have recently signed a contract with Divert Waste so that our rubbish doesn’t go to landfill – we think this is a really positive step.
You too can help us to be environmentally friendly as well by reducing power and water consumption where appropriate.
Please therefore consider the following:

  • Turning off the lights when leaving the room

  • Turning off the shower power cord when you have finished using the shower

  • If you are staying longer than one night, consider using towels a little longer – fresh towels can be requested by leaving used ones in the shower cubicle.

  • Only fill the kettle with the water you need.

  • Turn radiators or heaters down if you don’t need them on.

  • Fans are available from the bar in hot weather (refundable deposit required).

  • Please don’t throw any foreign objects down the WC – The Crown is an old pub and so is its plumbing!

  • Use the recycling bins located outside Room 9 (signposted).

Every little helps!

Thank you.
